Resources for Greyston's Open Hiring Coalition






This website is designed as a resource for the Greyston Bakery as they seek to expand their Open Hiring model to other businesses in Yonkers.

Since 1982, Greyston, one of the country’s leading social enterprise, has provided individuals in Southwest Yonkers with employment, skills and resources to lift them out of poverty. Greyston’s Open Hiring Model, utilized at Greyston Bakery, embraces an individual’s potential by providing employment opportunities regardless of background or work history while offering the support necessary to thrive in the workplace and in the community. This model is meant to fuel community development, with a commitment to human growth and potential.

Below is a description of each area of the site and how it can be used by Greyston to further their Open Hiring Coalition.




The Community Resources button above leads you to a map that inculdes Social Service Providers in Yonkers. These resources can be used by Greyston and HR managers outside of Greyston (as well as clients) to find options for services such as housing, childcare, and subtance abuse treatment.





The Open Hiring button above leads you to a map that inculdes businesses in Yonkers that may be candidates for Open Hiring Outreach. The map has info windows that can display when each businesses was last contacted by Greyston and what stage they are in for the Open Hiring process.




The Yonkers button leads you to information about Yonkers, particularly highlighting the disparities between Southwest Yonkers and the rest of the city. The high poverty and unemployment levels in Southwest Yonkers are what prompted Greyston to begin open Hiring and also led them to strive to expand the practice.
